Northwest Region 7 NC Science and Engineering Fair

Welcome to the online registration and management system for the fair!

The NW Region 7 Fair will be held on December 13, 2016 at the Appalachian State University.  

Using the links on the left the public can register as a participant or register as a judge. Students will need to fill out the complete student registration page and send in the registration form with their registration fee to Mr. Jeff Jaynes, Avery County Schools, 775 Cranberry Street, Newland, NC 28657.

All students must have their own email address to complete registration.  Duplicate emails are not accepted in the system.  Students will be emailed their registration number to complete their registration process.

Here is the news regarding the upcoming Regional Science & Engineering Fair and Student Academy of Science Event, to be held December 13, 2016.  

 

Science & Engineering Fair (NCSEF)

 

  • Registration:  This year registration for this event is online.  Complete it on this site by using side tab to registar.   To complete the online registration,  You will submit all forms by December 7 and print the signature page.  Mail the fee – 

$10 / project as instructed below, by Dec 7.  All forms must be either mailed (postmarked by December 7) or emailed to colemanbailey@averyschools.net by December 8.

 

  • Board Check in:  Boards can be checked in on Monday, Dec 12, between 4pm and 9pm, OR Tuesday morning, December 13 between 7:30am and 9:30am.  (Note – some county directors and teachers prefer to check in boards for all of their students on Monday evening, thus alleviating the need for early morning check-in by their students). 

 

  • Fees:  Payment for registration must be mailed by Dec. 7 to Jeff Jaynes at Avery County Schools, 775 Cranberry Street, Newland, NC, 28657.   Registration fee is $10 per project.  (Note: Participants will be on their own for lunch; registration fee does not include lunch)

 

 

Student Academy of Science (NCSAS)

 

  • Email paper:  Once you have registered online, you must email a copy of the project paper to Sue Purser smp28607@gmail.com.  Guidelines for paper can be found at http://www.ncsas.org/registration (click on Project Guidelines).

  

  • There is NO Cost for registration for the District NCSAS event

 

  • Be Prepared:  Students must have their Keynote/PowerPoint saved on a flash drive (save in .key, or .ppt AND PDF format to be safe) or bring it on their own laptop, prepared to connect to the projector in the presentation room.

  • NCSEF – Complete online (Science Fair in a Box) Registration & mail Registration fee ($10/project) DUE to Jeff Jaynes at Avery County Schools.   
  • NCSAS – complete online registration for each project & email paper to Sue Purser

 

 

December 12

4-9 pm Early Check-in for NCSEF boards 

 

December 13

 

7:30 am – 9:30 Check-in for NCSEF boards

9 am Judges Training

10 – 11:15 am Elementary NCSEF Judging

10 am - noon Jr/Sr NCSEF judging

11:30 am – 12:30 “Fun with Science” Show for Elementary students

Lunch (on your own- there are several options within walking distance on and off King Street)

1 – 3 pm Public viewing of projects

12:30 – 1 pm NCSAS registration (6-12 grade)

1 – 3 pm NCSAS presentations (non-participants may observe)

1 – 3 pm Campus tours

2 – 3 pm “Fun with Science” Show 

3 pm Project removal may begin

3:30 pm * Awards – Location TBA

 

IMMEDIATELY AFTER AWARDS all students advancing to state level of competition in either NCSEF or NCSAS will have a brief meeting with Regional Director, Coleman Bailey
